State records were broken, school records were broke and overtime games highlight the Jackson Michigan area from last week’s high school basketball action. There were 3 performances that broke career highs and school/state records. Here’s a recap:

#1 ranked Boys player regardless of class by ESPN, Emoni Bates of Ypsilanti Lincoln High School, scores a career-high 63 points. Bates also adds 21 rebounds in a 108-102 Double OT victory at Chelsea. Ypsilanti Lincoln is favored to win the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 1 state championship. Lincoln will start the playoffs in District 18.

Gwen Rogozinski, a varsity girls player from Stockbridge High School in Stockbridge Michigan scores 41 points. 41 points is a new Stockbridge school record. Rogozinski also made in 8 3-pointers.

Lastly, Gabrielle Lutchka, a 10th-grade varsity girls player at Grass Lake High School in Grass Lake, a suburb of Jackson, set 2 new records. Lutchka scored a whopping 58 points, tied for 7th-most in MHSAA state history. She also made an unthinkable 16 3-pointers which is the new state record. Grass Lake defeated Manchester 95-31. Grass Lake Lady Warriors are hosting MHSAA Girls Basketball District #83 and have to face off against their arch-rival, the Michigan Center Cardinals in the district-semifinal, and likely the Columbia Central Lady Golden Eagles in the district final. Grass Lake & Michigan Center split the season series at 1 win apiece this regular season.
